I love to teach to stir up the creative souls who are courageous enough to take a class. I say that because I know taking a class means putting yourself out there. In to a sea of peers where we have our work looked at and compared to. We are fragile and we are trying to be brave. The one thing I try to tell my students is Art is just paint and paper or whatever it is you use to create...It is not you. It does not say if you are honest or loving or faithful or even nice. So if someone doesn't appeciate your art it is not you they are regecting...It took me a long time to get that.
So, I had 19 on Tuesday and 7 on Wednesday. Fun Classes. It was at the Faux Event in PA. I started the week terribly by not having my luggage show up. Bad news since all my supplies were in there. So I had to open the class with "A funny thing happened to me at the airport last eve..." They were nice but loosing their pateience with me by 10:30. I did end up borrowing some supplies and my luggage came at noon and we finished on time. But ohhhh talk about a tense moment or two...hours.
Some artists were born at the Faux Event. You could see their proud faces when as they walked around with their completed sample boards. Friends were made, emails exchanged and yet another successful painting event.
